Practical Mind-Body Skills for Working with Chronic Pain Clients
A 1-day online intensive for hypnotherapists who want to work confidently, ethically, and effectively with chronic pain
"I'd Love to Help... But I'm Not Sure I'm Qualified"
Picture this: a potential client calls. They've been living with chronic back pain for seven years. They've tried everything - physio, medication, osteopathy, chiropractic care. Nothing's worked. They're desperate.
And you hesitate.
Not because you don't want to help. Not because you lack compassion or skill.
But because a voice in your head whispers:
"Is this even in my scope? What if I make it worse? I'm not a doctor; what if I miss something serious? What do I actually DO beyond 'just relax'? What if they expect me to cure them and I can't?"
You're not alone in this. These are the exact worries that stop qualified, compassionate hypnotherapists from working with chronic pain—even though pain clients desperately need what you offer.
The truth? You're probably more qualified than you think.
You don’t need to be able to diagnose or treat the body to help clients in pain. By understanding how the brain and nervous system create pain, you can use hypnotherapy to support change safely and within scope.
This training gives you:
Absolute clarity on scope – what's in, what's out, and when to refer (no more guessing)
Structured session frameworks – exactly what to do from intake to session eight
Flexible, trauma-informed techniques – not rigid scripts, but adaptable tools that fit how you work
Safety protocols – how to work confidently without fear of harm
Language mastery – what to say when clients resist, plateau, or spiral into catastrophizing
Real-world case consultation – troubleshooting the messy, unpredictable reality of pain work
By the end of this day, you'll know exactly what to do when that next pain client calls.
You'll say yes, not with crossed fingers and anxiety, but with confidence, clarity, and a plan.
Attended the free webinar? You already have the foundations—scope overview, pain science basics, and one core technique. This intensive takes you from that solid starting point to full clinical competence: complete session protocols, six evidence-based techniques, case formulation skills, and real-world troubleshooting.
New to this work? No problem. This training includes all the foundational knowledge you need, plus goes much deeper. You'll receive the webinar recording as part of your materials to review at your own pace.
The Gap Between Knowing and Doing
If you want to integrate chronic pain work as a core part of your practice, you need:
Full session frameworks (not just single techniques)
A clear method for case formulation and progress tracking
Flexible language – what to say when clients resist, doubt, or plateau
Ethical confidence – knowing your edges without hesitation
Real-world troubleshooting – when theory meets messy human reality
This training bridges that gap - helping you translate pain neuroscience into everyday hypnotherapy practice.
🧠 Why We Start With a Pain Science Quiz
Before diving into techniques, we'll spend time challenging assumptions many therapists (and clients) hold about pain:
❓ "Pain always means something is damaged"
❓ "You need to fix the body to stop the pain"
❓ "Clients must relax for pain to improve"
❓ "Chronic pain is 'all in the mind'"
These beliefs - even when unconsciously held - shape how we work. Through an interactive quiz and group discussion, you'll discover:
What modern pain neuroscience actually reveals about pain generation
How fear, prediction, and attention amplify or reduce pain intensity
Why safety, curiosity, and new experiences create lasting change
How hypnotherapy aligns perfectly with this evidence base
You'll gain simple, powerful metaphors (the oversensitive smoke alarm, the protective brain, the volume dial) that make pain psychoeducation feel natural—not medical or reductive.
This foundation makes everything else in the day more effective.

🎯 Who This Training Is For
✅ This training is perfect if you:
Are a qualified hypnotherapist (or nearing the end of training)
Want to specialise in pain work or integrate it confidently into general practice
Value evidence-based, trauma-informed, scope-aligned approaches
Prefer adaptable frameworks over rigid scripts
Are ready to move from "I think I could help" to "I know exactly what to do"
❌ This training is NOT for you if:
You're looking for a "magic cure" approach to pain
You're not willing to work within scope and refer when needed
You prefer prescriptive scripts over flexible principles
You're not qualified or training as a hypnotherapist
💡 Why This Training Is Different
Most pain training for therapists is either:
Too medical – Focused on hypnoanalgesia (temporary relief from pain) for medical treatments
Too vague – "Use mindfulness and relaxation" (you already knew that) and scripts.
Too divorced from hypnotherapy – Generic CBT protocols that don't fit our modality
This training is different because it's:
Hypnotherapy-specific – Every tool uses trance, suggestion, and language
Scope-aligned – Clear ethical boundaries with no medical jargon you can't use
Evidence-informed – Based on Pain Reprocessing Therapy research, neuroscience, and somatic approaches
Immediately practical – You'll have techniques and rationales to use with your next client

❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to have attended the free webinar first?
No, the free webinar is helpful but not required. This intensive covers the foundations plus goes much deeper. If you haven't attended the webinar, you'll receive the recording as part of your registration materials.
What if I can't attend live?
The full recording will be available within 24 hours, and you'll have lifetime access. However, we strongly recommend attending live for the case discussion and Q&A—that's where the real transformation happens.
I'm not NCH registered, can I still attend?
Yes, as long as you're a qualified hypnotherapist (or in your final year of training) with any recognized body. The CPD hours are applicable across NCH, CNHC, GHSC, and other registers.
Will this help me attract pain clients?
This is clinical training, not marketing training. However, confidence naturally improves how you communicate your services. Many participants report feeling comfortable adding "chronic pain" to their website and directories after this training.
What level of experience do I need?
You should be qualified (or near-qualified) and comfortable conducting standard hypnotherapy sessions. This training assumes foundational hypnosis skills but no prior pain experience. If you're unsure, email me directly at jean@paintherapycoaching.co.uk
What if I have questions after the 30-day support period?
After 30 days, you're welcome to book a paid consultation session (£80/hour) for case-specific supervision. Many participants find this helpful when working with complex presentations.
Is there a community or ongoing support?
Participants are invited to join an optional peer support group (WhatsApp) for case discussion and resource sharing. Jean also offers 1-1 consultation (£80/hour).
Is there a refund policy?
Yes, 14-day satisfaction guarantee. If you attend the training and feel it didn't deliver what was promised, email within 14 days for a full refund. No questions asked.
When is the next training date?
Dates are announced after the free webinar series. Typically, the intensive runs 4-6 weeks after a webinar to give participants time to apply the basics first. Check your webinar follow-up email for the next available date or email directly.
Still Have Questions?
Email Jean directly at jean@paintherapycoaching.co.uk — I respond personally to every inquiry, usually within 24 hours.
